Varicocele Embolization

services-1

Varicocele Embolization

Varicocele embolization is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat enlarged veins in the scrotum (varicoceles). It improves blood flow, reduces pain, and can help restore fertility in men. Unlike surgery, it requires only a small puncture and offers quicker recovery.

Treatments

  • Performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation.
  • A catheter is inserted into a vein, and tiny coils or agents are used to block abnormal blood flow.
  • Outpatient procedure with minimal discomfort and fast recovery.

Symptoms and Causes

  • Dull or aching pain in the scrotum, especially after physical activity.
  • Visible or enlarged veins in the scrotum (“bag of worms” appearance).
  • Infertility or low sperm quality.
  • Caused by faulty valves in the veins that lead to poor blood circulation and swelling.

Prevention

  • Varicoceles can’t always be prevented, but maintaining good vascular health, avoiding prolonged standing, and regular medical check-ups may help reduce risks.
  • Early evaluation of scrotal pain or infertility can prevent complications.
